Lower Buck Hill Falls drops over a rocky, tree-covered ledge into a dark pool, with the wooded ravine pressing close around the water. The falls are in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, a region promoted in the early 20th century for summer stays and outdoor excursions. Mary's message makes a light family aside of the scenery: "You ought to see my mother climb the hills."
