About this postcard
A tall waterfall plunges into a deep, brightly colored canyon, with steep eroded walls of yellow, orange and rust-toned rock rising on the right and forested slopes beyond. The scene is the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, one of the park's most photographed sights; the 308-foot fall drops over resistant rhyolite lava flows that give the canyon its oxidized yellow and pink hues. The view resembles the classic prospect from Artist Point or Lookout Point, long a standard subject for park concession postcards.
