Lucas County Hospital, Toledo, Ohio, 1945

About this postcard

A long, multi-story brick hospital with white stone trim, projecting wings and a flat roof, seen across a lawn with a curving drive and a low fence. It served as Lucas County's public general hospital, an institution that grew into a sprawling complex of connected wings on the edge of Toledo. The card was written in May 1945 by Minnie Raynor to Lucille Draper (Mrs. Elmer Draper) at a rural route box in Elmore, Ohio, a small village in Ottawa County. Brief notes between people in neighboring towns were ordinary postcard traffic in the 1940s, carrying a few lines and a signature rather than news.
