About this postcard

The Luhrs Tower rises above a row of tall palms in downtown Phoenix, with storefronts, pedestrians, and parked cars at street level. Completed in 1929 for businessman George H. N. Luhrs, the fourteen-story tower was designed by the El Paso firm Trost & Trost and became a downtown landmark known for its Art Deco detailing. By the early 1940s, the surrounding blocks were part of Phoenix's busy commercial core.
