About this postcard

The Luhrs Tower rises above a row of tall palms in downtown Phoenix, with storefronts, pedestrians and parked cars at street level. Completed in 1929 for businessman George H. N. Luhrs and designed by the El Paso firm Trost & Trost, the eleven-story building is one of Arizona's best-known Art Deco skyscrapers and remained a downtown landmark for decades. The linen-textured card, credited to the Arizona Republic newspaper, dates from the 1930s-40s.
