About this postcard

The Miller Park Branch of the Lynchburg Federal Savings & Loan Association is a single-story modern bank building on a broad lawn. Red brick and glass walls sit under a low flat roof, with the association's name in rooftop letters and a wall inscription; a curbed walk, foundation shrubs, and a small sculptural light fixture frame the entrance. Savings and loan associations like this one financed home mortgages and followed the growth of American suburbs in the mid-20th century, and the branch served Lynchburg's Miller Park neighborhood from its site on Fort Avenue.
