About this postcard
The view looks into the University of Texas campus from the main entrance off Guadalupe Street, with the Union Building on the left, the Administration Building and its Tower at center, and the Architectural Building on the right. Live oaks and beds of red flowers frame the mall. The Tower, completed in 1937 to a design by Paul Philippe Cret, housed the main library and remains a campus landmark. The Union Building served as the center of campus social life, and Guadalupe Street, known as the Drag, was the commercial edge of campus. The card was mailed from the University Station in June 1941; Cecilia Kranzfelder writes to Lois Post in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, about exams and weather that never went over 90 degrees.
