About this postcard

A view of the stucco Mission-style gateway that served as the main entrance to the Oklahoma City fairgrounds, with its stepped parapet, arched openings and flanking towers, and small concession buildings marked "A Bargain Store" and "Lunches" on either side. The Oklahoma State Fair was established at Oklahoma City in the 1890s and grew rapidly after statehood in 1907, with permanent fairground buildings erected in the early 20th century. The tinted sky and open foreground are typical of cheaply produced color lithograph cards of the era.
