About this postcard
View north along Main Street in Dayton, Ohio, with streetcar tracks and overhead trolley wires running down the center of the broad roadway, awnings over the shop fronts, and pedestrians, buggies and wagons along the curbs. A red-brick church tower with pinnacles rises on the right, while a tall commercial block carrying a painted sign for "The Dayton Savings & Trust Co." stands farther up the street. Dayton was by this period a prosperous manufacturing city and an early center of street railway and bicycle, then automobile, production; Main Street was its principal commercial thoroughfare.
