About this postcard

A colorized view down Main Street in Dayton, Ohio, looking south, with a tall rusticated stone office block on the left, a yellow-tinted high-rise beyond it, and lower commercial buildings with awnings and signs on the right; horse-drawn wagons, pedestrians in early-1900s dress, trolley tracks and overhead wires fill the street. The sign "Harvey's S2S & S Tiger Hat" is legible on the right-hand block. Dayton was then a thriving manufacturing and patent-medicine center, and Main Street was its principal commercial artery before the 1913 flood and later suburban growth reshaped downtown.
