Main Street with the Herald Building, Salt Lake City, Utah, circa 1905

About this postcard

A elevated view down Main Street in Salt Lake City, with the Wasatch Range snow-capped on the horizon. Prominent painted signs read "BABCOCK THE HERALD" and "THE NEWS WORLD" on the tall Herald Building, while a large billboard advertises "PRIZES SOAP" and storefronts with awnings line the street below; horse-drawn wagons and early utility poles fill the roadway. The Salt Lake Herald was one of the city's leading daily newspapers of the period, and Main Street was the commercial spine of the growing Mormon capital.
