About this postcard
A bronze equestrian statue of Major General Anthony Wayne, hat cocked and cloak over his shoulders, rides a standing horse atop a rough-hewn stone pedestal, silhouetted against a blue sky with clouds and a low band of trees. The monument honors the Revolutionary War general from Pennsylvania; the Valley Forge equestrian bronze is the work of sculptor Henry Kirke Bush-Brown, dedicated in 1908 on the park grounds. Valley Forge itself was the Continental Army's winter encampment of 1777–78 and became a Pennsylvania state park in 1893.
