About this postcard

An elevated view looks east along the National Mall from the Lincoln Memorial toward the U.S. Capitol, with the long Reflecting Pool, tree-lined lawns, and the Capitol dome and grounds visible in the distance. The Mall's formal axis, laid out in the 1902 McMillan Plan, links the Lincoln Memorial, dedicated in 1922, with the Capitol. The Reflecting Pool and flanking rows of trees became a setting for national gatherings and demonstrations.
