About this postcard
A man in a dark suit, bow tie and straw boater sits at the steering wheel of an early open touring car with tufted leather seats, a bulb horn and large brass headlamps, posed against a rough stone wall. A hand-lettered sign tacked up behind him reads "To Huron S.D. State Fair," identifying the destination of the trip. The South Dakota State Fair has been held at Huron since the early 1900s, and the vehicle's tiller-era styling and the sitter's attire place the photograph in the first decade of the twentieth century.
