About this postcard
A printed black-and-white map of California with the Pacific coastline at right, showing the chain of missions running north from San Diego to San Francisco Solano in Sonoma. Mission and chapel sites are marked with symbols and named, and the mountain ranges appear in hachured relief. The missions were founded by Spanish Franciscans along El Camino Real in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and the map presents them as a connected route through the state.
