About this postcard

A view across Marblehead Harbor crowded with small rowboats and dories in the foreground, with sloops, schooners and a small steam vessel moored farther out; a rocky shore and wharf buildings frame the left edge, and the town waterfront lines the far shore. Marblehead, on Massachusetts Bay north of Boston, was long one of New England's premier yachting and fishing harbors, home to the Boston Yacht Club and a famous summer sailing fleet. The hand-colored look and white border are typical of the color lithograph postcards imported from Germany in the first decade of the 1900s.
