About this postcard
An elevated view of the U.S. Marine Base at San Diego, showing long rows of white barracks and administration buildings around a broad parade ground, with automobiles on the curving roads and Point Loma's headland rising across the water in the distance. The installation, now the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, was established in 1921 on the site of a former Army camp and expanded greatly as a recruit training center in the 1940s. The card's caption names the base and identifies the far shore as Point Loma.
