A vendor in a white shirt and apron stands behind market tables heaped with produce — tomatoes, onions, greens and roots — while dozens of colorful sombreros hang in a dense cluster overhead and pottery and baskets fill the background. The card's own caption names the scene simply as a "Market Place in Mexico," a typical open-air mercado of the kind photographed for mid-century tourist cards. Such markets have long been central to Mexican town life, selling both foodstuffs and straw hats and earthenware made by local artisans.
Color halftone with visible dot screen; no white border; light edge and corner wear.
No postmark. Undivided back; printed ad copy and publisher imprint; linen texture; no white border; light staining along lower edge.
