Market Street Bridge at night, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, circa 1940s

About this postcard

A night view of the Market Street Bridge at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, its long series of stone-faced arches and lamp posts stretching across the water under a full moon, with the moon's reflection trailing on the river. The caption calls it "one of Pennsylvania's Finest Bridges." The present Market Street Bridge carries Market Street across the Susquehanna River; it was completed in the late 1920s, replacing an earlier covered structure, and its monumental arched design made it a favorite local postcard subject.
