About this postcard
A view across Memorial Plaza in St. Louis, with a monument statue on a stone pedestal rising from a circular flower bed in the foreground, the tall Civil Courts Building with its stepped pyramid roof at left, and a brick commercial block with red-and-white striped awnings at right. Memorial Plaza was laid out as a formal mall along Market Street between the Civil Courts Building (completed 1929, its pyramid top echoing the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus) and the city's municipal buildings. The plaza and its monuments commemorate St. Louisans who served in the nation's wars.
