About this postcard
Mercy Hospital stands behind a lawn in Hamilton, Ohio, a large multi-story brick building with red-tiled turrets, gables, and an arched entrance porch. Bare trees cross the foreground, with a red brick house at the right and smaller buildings at the left. The sender's message gives the view a travelogue setting: tours of the Champion Coated Paper Co. and Niles Tool Works, a day in Cincinnati, and drives and errands around Hamilton. Those factory visits point to the city's industrial character in the early 1900s, when paper making and machine-tool manufacturing were part of local working life.
