About this postcard
A black-and-white view of the Methodist Church in Burlingame, California, a stucco Mission Revival-style building with a domed cupola topped by a cross, arched windows, a rose window on the gable end, and a low wing extending to the right. A 1940s-era automobile is parked at the curb and a church notice board and speed-limit sign stand in the shrubbery, with tall eucalyptus trees at the right edge. Burlingame, on the San Francisco Peninsula in San Mateo County, grew as a commuter suburb after the 1906 earthquake, and its congregations built in the Spanish Colonial Revival idiom popular in California in the 1920s.
