About this postcard
A large white clapboard mansion with tall windows and a balustraded roofline stands across a lawn and curving drive shaded by two big trees. An early open touring automobile is parked at the right. The caption identifies the building as the Gov. Gore Mansion, the club house for the Metz Aerodrome in Waltham. Gore Place, as the estate is also known, was built for Christopher Gore in the early 19th century. By the time of this view the old mansion was tied to an early aviation venture, though no aircraft appear on the lawn. The open touring car at the right points to the motor age that brought visitors to such outings.
