About this postcard

An elevated, brightly colored view of the Manhattan skyline, with the Chrysler Building's terraced spire rising at center and the slab-like towers of Rockefeller Center's Radio City complex at the right. The Chrysler Building, completed in 1930 to William Van Alen's design, was briefly the world's tallest building, while Radio City and the surrounding Rockefeller Center blocks were built between 1931 and 1939. The dense cluster of setback skyscrapers around them marks the heart of Midtown Manhattan as it appeared in the 1930s and 1940s.
