About this postcard

The entrance to Military Park in Indianapolis, shown as a tree-shaded promenade with two Civil War-era cannons mounted upright on rough stone blocks. A horse-drawn carriage and women in long skirts and hats move along the gravel drive, with a flower bed and benches among the elms behind them. The park was set aside in 1821 as a militia training ground and later became a public park; its cannon monuments commemorate Indiana troops.
