About this postcard

A dense crowd of pedestrians fills Milk Street in Boston, moving between a light-colored block with tall arched windows on the left and a four-story commercial facade on the right. Leafy trees shade the left side of the street, and dark storefront openings line the ground floor opposite. The printed caption calls Milk Street one of the oldest streets in the United States, noting that colonial buildings still stand among the tall skyscrapers and that traffic rolls by "oblivious to the dignity and age of that old historic spot." It also points out a museum in the old town hall on the left, where city executives once met. Milk Street runs through Boston's financial district and is among the city's oldest thoroughfares; by the early 20th century, its colonial-scale buildings stood in the shadow of taller commercial blocks.
