About this postcard

An elevated aerial view of the Million Dollar Pier at St. Petersburg, Florida, showing the long approach roadway lined with parked automobiles, the Mediterranean-style casino and recreation building with red tile roofs and a rooftop cupola flying the American flag, all surrounded by open water. The card's own caption calls it an "Aeroplane View" of the pier in "The Sunshine City." The Million Dollar Pier opened in 1926, replacing earlier wooden piers, and served as the city's premier waterfront recreation and entertainment complex until it was demolished in the 1960s.
