About this postcard
Aerial-style view of the Million Dollar Recreation Pier at St. Petersburg, Florida, a long pier extending from the shore to a large Mediterranean-style casino building with red tile roofs, surrounded by parked cars and moored boats, with the city skyline across the water behind it. The card labels the city "The Sunshine City." The pier shown is the second Million Dollar Pier, opened in 1926 with a casino, ballroom and observation tower; it was replaced by the current inverted-pyramid pier in the 1970s. The Curt Teich production number "5A-H1063" indicates a linen-era printing of the late 1930s to 1940s.
