A tall conical granite lighthouse rises from open water, its lantern room and gallery railing silhouetted against a pale sky with a few gulls. The lower half of the tower is stained dark by surf and weather. Minot Ledge Light stands on a rocky ledge off Cohasset and Scituate, marking the hazardous approach to Boston Harbor. The present granite tower, the second on the site, was completed in 1860 after the earlier iron-pile light was destroyed in the storm of April 1851.
No white border; large piece missing at top-left corner, plus surface abrasion, staining and discoloration across the sky and water.
