About this postcard

Three macaques perch on a large tree limb among palm fronds and foliage, the leftmost female with a small baby monkey clinging to her chest. The caption names the spot as The Monkey Jungle, near Miami, and the slogan promises a place "where the humans are caged and the monkeys run wild." Opened in 1933 by Joseph DuMond south of Miami, the attraction let monkeys roam free while visitors passed through caged walkways. South Florida's climate and natural foods, the card notes, resemble the monkeys' native jungles, where they live and thrive in complete liberty.
