A night view of the summit of Pike's Peak under a full moon. The summit house and its rooftop observation tower are lit from within, a red cog railway car stands at the right, and a few figures gather on the rocky ground beside the track. Pike's Peak rises above Colorado Springs, and the Manitou & Pike's Peak Cog Railway reached the summit in 1891. The summit house and tower were regular stops for tourists who made the climb by rail.
