About this postcard
A night view of Cashiers Valley in western North Carolina, with the dark forested slopes of Whiteside Mountain rising at the right and moonlight glinting off a body of water in the foreground. Whiteside Mountain, a quartzite peak on the Blue Ridge escarpment near the town of Cashiers, rises to about 4,930 feet and is one of the best-known landmarks of the southern Appalachians, famed for its sheer cliffs and its spring wildflowers. Linen-finish cards of this kind were typically produced in the late 1930s through the 1950s.
