A decorative motto card printed in dark blue Gothic blackletter type within a border of stylized green leaves, the verse reading "Count that day lost whose low descending sun / Views from thy hand no worthy action done." The lines are a widely reproduced Victorian and Edwardian inspirational motto, printed on cream stock with a mottled, aged surface. Such motto and greeting cards were commonly exchanged in the early 20th century as small gifts of moral encouragement.
