Mount of the Holy Cross in Eagle County, Colorado, rises above a rocky mountain stream and conifers in the foreground. A cross-shaped couloir of snow marks its northeast face.
William Henry Jackson's 1873 photograph of the snow cross made the peak a national attraction, and it was proclaimed a National Monument in 1929. The altitude of 14,176 feet reflects an early survey; the summit is now given as about 14,005 feet.
White border; color halftone/lithograph printing with visible screen; light edge and corner wear.
No postmark. Divided back; white border; publisher imprint The Hyde Paper Co., Colorado Springs, Colo.; C.T. American Art; blank address and message.
