The card shows the four carved granite heads of Mount Rushmore — George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln — set against a plain blue sky in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Sculptor Gutzon Borglum began blasting and carving the memorial in 1927, and the faces were largely finished by 1941, the year of his death. The memorial was created to commemorate the birth, growth, preservation and development of the United States.
Linen-textured stock with a white border; the "6B-H1718" production number at lower right is a Curt Teich dating code (1936).
No postmark or handwriting; unused card. Linen-texture era (1930s–40s) with white border; Curteich "C.T. Art-Colortone" imprint, undivided back with one-cent stamp box.
