About this postcard
A high vantage point above a rocky, rust-colored outcrop where two small figures in light clothing sit, looking out over a vast green valley and layered blue mountain ridges. The caption names the spot as Skyland, a resort area on the crest of the Blue Ridge in what became Shenandoah National Park, reached by the Skyline Drive (here spelled "Sky-Line Highway"), the scenic road built in the early 1930s. Such sweeping ridge-and-valley views made the drive and the Skyland resort popular tourist subjects in the linen postcard era.
