Mount Fuji rises beyond a range of blue hills, with a small passenger steamboat crossing the water in the foreground and a forested shoreline at right. The symmetrical volcano is Japan's highest peak and a long-standing national symbol; by the mid-20th century, scenic views of Fuji were familiar souvenirs for travelers to Japan.
White border at bottom with printed caption; small spot near top center; chrome-era color. No postmark (unused card). Divided-back Northwest Orient Airlines scenic photo card, printed in U.S.A.; the address side is not blank—it carries the printed "POST CARD" heading, the instruction to address, stamp, and return the card to the stewardess who will mail it, and a descriptive paragraph on Mt. Fujiyama; light foxing/toning on that side. Front shows a linen-textured view of Mt. Fuji with a white caption band reading "MT. FUJI, JAPAN" and the "Orient Express" title; series PF 16-E-53.
