Sepia real-photo view looking across open fields toward Stowe village, its church spire rising above the trees, with Mount Mansfield filling the distance. Mount Mansfield is Vermont's highest summit, and the village's white steeple is its best-known landmark; by the late 1940s the Stowe area was also establishing itself as a ski destination on the mountain's slopes. The sender's note calls the region "fine country" and closes with a wry request to be told "enough hills for me," a fair summary of the Green Mountains around Stowe.
