About this postcard

A snow-streaked Mount Shasta rises above dark evergreen forest, with a small lake and a red-roofed boathouse or shelter in the foreground. The printed text calls the peak a former "mighty monarch of volcanoes," cooled by thousands of winters and rising 14,161 feet above sea level, with timbered slopes and peaceful valleys at its base. Mount Shasta is a large stratovolcano at the southern end of the Cascade Range in Siskiyou County. Its glaciers and perennial snowfields made it a long-standing subject for Western scenic postcards and for tourist promotion of the region.
