A view across a quiet stretch of the Ammonoosuc River, its dark water mirroring the trees and sky, with low wooded banks and a gravel bar in the middle distance; beyond a dark evergreen ridge rises the pale, rounded profile of Mt. Washington under a soft blue sky. The Ammonoosuc rises on the western slopes of Mount Washington in the White Mountains and was a favorite subject for scenic postcards of the region. The card is a color-lithographed view typical of the early divided-back era.
Thin white border; corners lightly worn, minor edge wear; color lithograph with a slightly grainy screen.
Unused divided-back postcard; no postmark or handwriting. Publisher imprint at left: The Atkinson News Co., Tilton, N.H., No. 1212, Made in Germany. Light toning and minor edge wear.
