About this postcard
A multi-view linen card headed "Greetings from Jacksonville, Florida," with six vignettes: the U.S. Naval Air Station with a patrol seaplane in flight, Springfield Park's curving balustraded drive, the flowered Oriental Gardens with a figure in white, the oceanfront beaches lined with parked cars, the downtown skyline, and the World War Memorial with its gilded winged figure atop a globe. Jacksonville's naval air station at nearby Cecil Field and Jacksonville Municipal Airport grew into a major Navy aviation training center, and the card's "Official U.S. Navy Photos" note reflects that wartime-era connection. The memorial shown is the 1924 Florida World War Memorial in Riverside, crowned by a gilded statue of Victory. Curt Teich's linen-finish "C.T. Art-Colortone" stock dates the card to roughly the late 1930s through the 1940s.
