The Municipal Auditorium and Community Center in St. Louis fills a street corner, with pedestrians on the sidewalks in front. A long colonnade of white columns, a monumental entrance block, and green-tiled hipped roofs define the brick and stone facade. Designed in a stripped classical style, it opened in 1934 as the city's convention and performance hall and was later known as Kiel Auditorium. It served St. Louis for decades before its demolition in the early 1990s.
