About this postcard
A colorful view of San Diego's Municipal Piers, with long red-roofed pier sheds, a white excursion or fishing boat at the near wharf, and larger vessels — including a steamer flying an American flag — moored along the waterfront. Palm trees, a small yellow commercial block, parked 1940s automobiles and a green bus fill the foreground plaza. The Municipal Pier complex on San Diego Bay, later redeveloped as the Embarcadero/Tuna Harbor area, served the city's commercial fishing and passenger shipping trade in the mid-twentieth century.
