About this postcard

The card shows the Museum of Fine Arts' original Copley Square building in Boston, a red-brick and terra-cotta Romanesque Revival structure designed by Sturgis and Brigham, with ivy covering much of its lower walls and pedestrians crossing the plaza in front. The museum opened in this building in 1876 and remained here until its Huntington Avenue quarters opened in 1909, after which the Copley Square building was razed. The color image is a photochrom-style print made from a photograph by the Detroit Photographic Co.
