Native American figure, On the Frontier, Kanab, UT, 1939

About this postcard

A Native American figure in a feathered headdress stands beside a pinto horse on a rocky, pine-topped ledge, looking out over a deep canyon toward distant buttes and a pale sky. A second horse waits at the left under a large tree, and a shadowed rock wall fills the right side of the view. The printed caption titles the scene "ON THE FRONTIER" and credits it to an original oil painting by L. H. "Dude" Larsen, a cowboy artist and poet from Kanab, Utah. The caption describes him as "born a cowboy" who knows "cows, cowponies and cowboys from A to Z," presenting the picture as a cowboy artist's view of frontier life.
