About this postcard
A Native American woman and a young child stand outdoors before a shelter of vertical reeds with a thatched roof. The woman wears a striped skirt, a light blouse, many strands of beads, and a nose ornament; the child, held at her side, wears a patterned dress and also has a nose ornament. Both are barefoot on sandy ground. The image does not identify the people, their community, or the place shown. By the 1930s, real-photo postcards of Native American subjects were a familiar souvenir and collector's format, often showing sitters in traditional dress.
