About this postcard
The oval vignette shows the Holy Family in a stable doorway. Mary, in red and blue, holds the Christ child; Joseph stands behind with a hand to his beard; a shepherd in green and brown kneels with his staff. A long beam of light falls from the Star of Bethlehem across a starry blue sky. The scene follows a familiar Christmas card iconography of the period, presenting the shepherd's adoration as a quiet devotional tableau. Early twentieth-century Christmas postcards often paired such Nativity imagery with a simple greeting, and many were printed in Saxony and other German lithographic centers for export.
