The view looks down stream through the rock arch of Natural Bridge, with Cedar Creek flowing below and trees and foliage on the rocky walls. Natural Bridge, in Rockbridge County, Virginia, was a well-known scenic attraction by the early twentieth century. Thomas Jefferson once owned the land and praised the arch, and tourists were already making the trip to see it. Kate's note wishes a friend were along for the week, a small trace of the sightseeing traffic the bridge drew.
