About this postcard
Night view of the brightly lit Nautical Garden amusement building at Revere Beach, its arched facade outlined in lights and signs reading "NAUTICAL GARDEN" and "PERGOLA," with a dense crowd of promenaders filling the street below and a full moon in a cloudy sky. Revere Beach, laid out in 1896, is generally credited as the first public beach in the United States, and by the early 1900s its shore was lined with pavilions, chutes and amusement halls of this kind. The card's own caption names the Nautical Garden, one of those seafront attractions.
