Neoclassical college building, Ames, IA, 1931

About this postcard

A large neoclassical building with a columned portico and pediment stands at the end of a curved, tree-lined driveway. A flagpole rises from the roof, and overhanging branches frame the view. The message names Coe College, though the Ames postmark and the campus setting suggest Iowa State College (now Iowa State University); Coe College is in Cedar Rapids. The sender's note in the fall of 1931 that "the boys are fine and have had a good year in rushing" places the card in the fall fraternity recruitment season.
